This year, the NDA BioBuilders team has been working on a "what a colorful world" project. The team transformed a modified DNA into bacteria to express a protein. The proteins are pigments which make bacteria colorful. Advisor Dr. Wang noted, “Most of this year’s team have very little biotech laboratory experience. The lab results are beyond my expectation. I am very proud of them.”
For this experiment, every laboratory group got colorful bacteria clones! This proves that the bacteria transformation was successful! The students demonstrated strong work ethics, laboratory skills and problem solving skills. They learned the knowledge and skills very quickly.
